THE GAMBIA PROJECT

The Gambia Project

After the success of delivering the Rohingya Aid & The Stornoway Mosque Project, Aihtsham decided to set up “The Akhirah Team”. This team consists of five individuals, all from different backgrounds, who share the passion of carrying out humanitarian work. Aihtsham has a huge passion to make a difference, to do things which have not been the norm, and to break barriers.

He gathered a good following of people worldwide after the success of The Stornoway Mosque Project. This led to receiving many messages of help for other projects both on a national and international level. One SOS message really stuck out; a message from a remote village in The Gambia.

The Gambia Project was set up shortly after this and launched on 1st June 2018. The project to date has raised in excess of £50,000 for the following:

  • drill and install 5 large solar powered water wells
  • filling of a 40ft container with key essentials to be cargo’d by the the end of June 2018
  • helping 3 orphanages/schools with food, water & sleeping provisions
  • carpet the local mosque and help with other aspects of building in the mosque
  • providing medical provisions and medical operations to the less fortunate
  • providing food parcels to poor families in remote areas
